Albrecht Schnider
Born in 1958.
Albrecht Schnider is an artist whose practice encompasses painting, drawing and object art; he grew up in Flühli‑Sörenberg in the Entlebuch region.
After completing his Matura, he studied at the Schule für Gestaltung and the University of Bern with the aim of teaching “Bildnerisches Gestalten”.
The development of his career was supported locally, notably by the Bernese collector and gallerist Toni Gerber, and was already manifested during this period in gallery exhibitions (Galerie Toni Gerber), as well as in events at the Kunstmuseum Luzern accompanied by distinctions mentioned in the notices.
A notable public acquisition appears in the file: the work Ohne Titel (1989), oil on canvas, 230 × 180 cm, was acquired by the Musée cantonal des Beaux‑Arts de Lausanne in 2000 (inv. 2000‑036).
Professionally, Schnider divided his time between residences abroad and a pedagogical commitment: he lived in Brussels from 1993 to 1998, moved to Berlin in 1998 and then, according to the notice consulted, to Hilterfingen am Thunersee in 2018, and was a painting teacher at the Bern University of the Arts from 2005 to 2021.
