Alban Allegro
Born in 1957.
Executed in acrylic on canvas, Alban Allegro’s paintings tell fragmentary stories populated by human figures reduced to their essentials and by mythical animals. The Galerie du Valais’s notice relates his work to the Italian Transavanguardia, a movement that advocates a return to a form of painting that is both figurative and imaginative.
He learns to paint as a self-taught artist, then completes his training in Florence. In 1980, he works in Silvio Loffredo’s studio at the city’s Academy of Fine Arts. After stays in Paris and Geneva between 1982 and 1984, he returns to Florence, where he works in Fernando Farulli’s studio and receives his diploma in 1988.
He lives and works in the Tuscan capital until returning to Valais in 2002. He subsequently has a studio in the arts and culture sector of the Ferme-Asile in Sion, and also teaches at EPAC in Saxon.
