Abel Stimmer
Born in 1542.
Died in 1606.
Abel Stimmer was an artist whose oeuvre is distinguished by its versatility. He is recognised as a painter, engraver and designer of stained-glass windows. Stimmer worked as a court painter for the margraves of Baden-Baden.
He was also the brother and, at certain periods, collaborator of Tobias Stimmer, attesting to a family dynamic within the artistic sphere. Details of his career and works remain partly uncertain, leaving room for interpretation and further exploration of his legacy.
