Heinrich Reisenbauer (1938–2025), an Austrian artist born in Kirchau, joined the House of Artists at Gugging in 1986 at Johann Feilacher’s invitation. His work arranges familiar motifs in series: everyday objects, trees, flowers or human figures. Repetition does not eliminate difference, as individual elements display small variations in shape, position or colour within the ordered group.
During the 1990s he enlarged his drawings, later working on canvas with black permanent marker and acrylic paint. Outlines separate the motifs from a white background. Suns and moons hold a prominent place in this repertoire. Reisenbauer received the Oskar Kokoschka Prize with the Gugging artists in 1990, and a solo exhibition was devoted to his work in South Korea in 2023.
This profile brings together identity references for Heinrich Reisenbauer and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
