Klaus Pinter, born in Schärding in 1940, develops work between sculpture and architecture. A co-founder of Haus-Rucker-Co, he contributed to the group’s experiments. MoMA holds collaborative works associated with Mind Expander / Flyhead Helmet (1968) and Oasis no. 7 (1972), made with other members of this artistic laboratory.
His later interventions bring historical objects into contact with contemporary structures. For Wiener Mischung at the Hermesvilla in 2000, 250 objects left the museum’s stores to form an installation that transformed the reading of its rooms. In Rebonds at the Paris Panthéon in 2002, an immense sphere echoed the monument’s curves. La conquête de l’air, made for an exhibition at the Albertina in 2006, continued this exploration of architectural space.
