Francesco Paolo Diodati (1864–1940) is associated with the Neapolitan school; a notice devoted to his painting particularly highlights his genre scenes and relates them to the teachings of Gioacchino Toma. It notes his interest in popular life, as well as his frequent use of grey tones and the predominance of cool colours. The Gallerie d’Italia attribute Piazza Vittoria to Diodati, an oil on canvas dated 1893, measuring 84 × 184 cm, held at the Gallerie d’Italia – Napoli in the collection devoted to nineteenth-century painting. A sales page for art prints offers a reproduction under the title Getränkeverkäufer (“drinks seller”); its description attributes the image to Diodati and describes it as an oil on canvas measuring 68 × 51 cm.
This profile brings together identity references for Francesco Paolo Diodati and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
