The German landscape and animal painter Arnold Wilhelm Moeller, also known by the spelling Möller, was born in Bückeburg in 1886 and died in Bruckmühl in 1963. Before his artistic training, he completed an apprenticeship as a house painter and worked in that trade. His study trips took him to Italy, Greece and the Lüneburg Heath. He was a member of the Münchner Künstlergenossenschaft and the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands. During the Second World War, he left Munich, staying first in Haslangkreit near Aichach, then in Au in der Hallertau, before settling in Bad Aibling.
Among the documented works is Ziehende Schafherde im Moos, an oil on canvas from 1940, measuring 55 × 51 × 4 cm and listed as belonging to the Sammlung Graf. An auction catalogue also lists Weidende Kühe im Schatten von Bäumen: an oil on cardboard, signed and dated 1945 at the lower right, measuring 22.5 × 30 cm.
This profile brings together identity references for Arnold Moeller and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
