Werner Berges

German painter Werner Berges, born in Cloppenburg in 1941, is presented by Galerie Foxx as one of the representatives of German Pop Art. According to the gallery, the figure of the “perfect woman of the 1970s” is a central subject in his work, detached from the context of advertising.
The listed works present pieces created over several decades: “Damenwahl” (1967), mixed media on cardboard, 60 × 80 cm, is signed, dated and titled; “Dame” (1968) is a screenprint on Schoellershammer, 80 × 60 cm; “Claudine mit Scott” (2008), an original mixed-media work, measures 50 × 67 cm and bears the artist’s handwritten signature.
Represented by Galerie Foxx since 2002, Berges lived and worked in Schallstadt and Cadaqués, Spain, until his death in October 2017.
