Born in Riedlingen in 1878, Maria Caspar-Filser is presented in sales notices through her ties to art groups and a notable appointment as a professor. One notice describes her as a member, or even a founding member, of Sema in 1911 and of the Münchner Neue Secession in 1913.
According to the same notice, she obtained a professorship in 1925, an appointment described as a first for a woman in Germany. A documented work, Florenz, vom Boboli aus, attests to her practice of oil painting: this 1911 canvas is noted as bearing a monogram.
This profile brings together identity references for Maria Caspar-Filser and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
5 references are documented at Dobiaschofsky, Germann. Each record links to its source; the amounts are not a general valuation of the artist’s work.
