A Flemish still-life painter, Alexandre Adriaenssen is also listed as a decorative painter and watercolourist. Baptised in Antwerp on 17 January 1587, he was buried there on 30 October 1661. The eldest son of Emanuel Adriaenssen, a lutenist, music teacher and composer, he had two brothers, Vincent and Nicolas.
Two works recorded in public collections provide reference points for his oeuvre: a Still Life at the Musée Magnin in Dijon, and a Still Life with Fish at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. His mention by Cornelis de Bie in Het Gulden Cabinet, published in 1662, page 273, constitutes a bibliographic record close to his period.
