The German landscape painter Richard Heinrich, known as Henri, Fehdmer (1860–1945), was born in Königsberg and died in Berlin. He studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts under Heinrich Lauenstein and Andreas Müller from 1879 to 1881, then continued his training at the Academy of Antwerp from 1881 to 1885 under J. Tryskampen. He also received private instruction from Joseph Van Luppen.
After his studies, he remained in Antwerp and worked there as a landscape painter. He travelled several times to Switzerland, the Netherlands and the Baltic Sea coast. He took part in the watercolour exhibitions in Dresden in 1909, 1911 and 1913. A notice from Musées Occitanie associates the work entitled L’Hiver with the Musée Henri-Martin.
This profile brings together identity references for Richard Fehdmer and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
