Berend Jan Brouwer, also known as Barend Brouwer, was a Dutch artist born in 1872 in Diepenveen and died in 1936 in Voorburg. Descriptions of his work encompass both city views and landscapes of the Netherlands, from fields and meadows to lakes and forests. A published characterisation of his work associates him with Impressionism and notes his attention to changes in atmosphere according to the time of day or the season.
