French artist Alain Jacquet (1939–2008) develops a body of work in which fragmentation into dots and circular framing feature in several documented works. Before devoting himself to painting, he takes an interest in theatre and architecture; in 1959, he begins studying architecture at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. He then establishes a screen-printing studio, first in Paris and then in Argenteuil. In 1967, he represents France at the São Paulo Biennial.
In Geneva, Silver Marble, also known as Geneva Ball, is a form twelve metres in diameter composed of dots; the work extends the exploration of the fragmentation of the screened image. In the Visions de la Terre, the image of the globe forms a background against which a more or less tightly drawn circular frame reveals figures, scenes inspired by mythology or erotic scenes. The Art Institute of Chicago also lists Gabrielle d’Estrée, dated 1969. Another documented work, Study of a Bird (1987), is an oil painting on canvas measuring 870 × 910 mm, signed, dated and titled on the verso.
