SwissArtGallery · Documented identity
Austrian painter Anton Kolig, born in 1886 in Nový Jičín and deceased in 1950 in Nötsch im Gailtal, is associated through his work with Expressionism and the Prague Secession. His training takes him to the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. His activity is not limited to painting: he is also presented as a designer, teacher and art educator.
From 1928, his name appears in connection with the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, although the precise nature of this association is not specified. In 1947, he receives the Fine Arts Prize of the City of Vienna. A drawing entitled “Liegender Akt, zur Seite gedreht” provides a documented insight into his work on paper: executed in pencil, it measures 49.4 × 34 cm. The published provenance for this sheet traces its passage from the artist’s estate, by inheritance, to a private collection in Switzerland.
This profile brings together identity references for Антон Колиг and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
38 references are documented at Kornfeld. Each record links to its source; the amounts are not a general valuation of the artist’s work.
