After exhibiting a few figurative works in 1940, Englebert Van Anderlecht devoted ten years to the study of painting before turning to abstract art. The biographical note then describes a practice involving large canvases on which colours abound.
Towards the end of his life, he joined Groep 58 and the Nieuwe Vlaamse School. A work listed under the title Landschaft, dated 1944, is an oil on canvas measuring 65 × 80 cm; its verso is noted as signed, dated and bearing an inscription. This work was sold for CHF 360, excluding fees.
This profile brings together identity references for Englebert Van Anderlecht and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
