Frans Hogerwaard, also known as François Hogerwaard, participated in Dutch artistic life in the early twentieth century. He is documented in an exhibition at Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum in 1907 and in several exhibitions of the Sint Lucas association through 1914. His subjects include portraiture, landscape and figure scenes, with a particular interest in light. Recorded works connect landscapes in Limburg and Brabant with views of Saint-Cloud and scenes evoking Madrid. Music also has a place within this repertoire, whether through the portrait of a cellist or a composition titled Adagio molto espressivo. Painting, pastel and printmaking offered different means of engaging with the people and places he depicted.
This profile brings together identity references for Frans Hogerwaard and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
