Pro Hart

Kevin Charles Hart, known as Pro Hart (1928–2006), was an Australian painter from Broken Hill. Largely self-taught, he worked in the mines before painting became his principal occupation. The people he encountered and his experience of working life informed his narrative scenes. His first solo exhibition took place at the Bonython Gallery in Adelaide in 1962.
Working in oil and acrylic, Hart explored layering, glazes and scratching into the surface. He also made sculpture, notably in welded steel and bronze. Men in landscape, dated 1966, is an oil painting on composition board acquired by the Queensland Art Gallery in 1970. Its title brings together human figures and landscape, recurring components of his Australian world.
