Moïse Kisling (1891–1953), listed as a Polish-French artist, had a career marked by moves between several places of work and study.
After serving in the French Foreign Legion in 1915, he undertook study trips to Spain, Marseille and Saint-Tropez. After a long stay in California, he returned to Paris in 1946.
His early works are described as being marked primarily by Cubism; his visual language later evolved towards expressive realism.
