The Florentine painter Ferdinando Buonamici lived from 1820 to 1892 and belonged to the circle of the Caffè Michelangiolo, alongside Fattori, Signorini and Diego Martelli. Volunteering in the Second Italian War of Independence brought him close to Signorini, with whom he made landscape studies near Pozzolengo. This experience connected direct observation with contemporary history: artists serving as volunteers in a Modena barracks themselves became a subject for painting. His work also includes scenes of childhood, historical subjects and views around Florence. Working across several genres, Buonamici participated in an artistic environment that brought renewed attention to places and lived situations, while maintaining an interest in narrative themes and the representation of the human figure.
This profile brings together identity references for Ferdinando Buonamici and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
