Wilhelm Amandus Beer (1837–1907), a German painter, is associated with the depiction of scenes from Russian folk life. His preference for these subjects is said to have earned him the nickname “Russen-Beer”. In 1897, he became a professor at the Städelsches Kunstinstitut.
An artwork titled Heuernte in Russland, oil on cardboard, 11.5 × 33 cm, is signed and dated 1870. On the reverse, the cardboard bears the stamp of the J. P. Schneider jr. art dealer in Frankfurt, as well as a handwritten inscription giving the title and attributing the painting to W. A. Beer.
This profile brings together identity references for Wilhelm Amandus Beer and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
