Robyn Denny, pseudonym of Edward Maurice Fitzgerald Denny, was a British artist born on 3 October 1930 in Abinger, England, and died in 2014. His practice spans several fields: graphic design, drawing, printmaking, painting and screenprinting. According to the commentary by Galerie Kornfeld, he initially took an intensive interest in American abstract painting, before finding his own style, based on geometric motifs, around 1960.
A gouache entitled Untitled, dated 1966, is executed on Japan paper with an attached paper border. It measures 77 × 51 cm and bears the pencil signature and date “Denny ’66” in the lower right corner of the border. The published provenance traces it from Kasmin Gallery, London, to Galerie Renée Ziegler, Zurich, which acquired it in 1968. The entry also mentions a presentation of Robyn Denny at Galerie Renée Ziegler, Zurich, in 1968. The published provenance ends with a private collection in Switzerland.
