SwissArtGallery · Documented identity
The Czech painter Joseph Istler (1919–2000), born in Prague according to a lot description, also appears in sources as Josef Istler. The lot description describes a portrait of Joseph Istler belonging to a series of portraits of CoBrA artists made by Aernout Overbeeke. The portraits were printed on large-format watercolour paper in an edition of three; each artist represented received their portrait, and Overbeeke donated one series to the CoBrA Museum.
This profile brings together identity references for Joseph Istler and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
5 references are documented at Dobiaschofsky, Artcurial Beurret Bailly Widmer. Each record links to its source; the amounts are not a general valuation of the artist’s work.
