Pieter de Bloot’s oeuvre encompasses genre scenes, historical and religious subjects, landscapes and still lifes; he painted numerous landscapes and peasant scenes in particular, subjects sought after by local collectors according to the biographical entry.
Several works listed in public collections illustrate this diversity: The Peasant Fair and The Lawyer’s Office are held at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, while Christ with Mary and Martha is in the Liechtenstein Museum in Vienna. The Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent holds a Landscape with Farm, dated around 1645, an oil on panel measuring 39 × 64 cm.
A Lempertz catalogue also lists under his name Stubeninterieur mit trinkenden Bauern, an oval oil on wood measuring 35.7 × 26 cm, whose stated provenance is a Hessian private collection.
The available information about his training in painting remains limited. Between 1624 and 1630, he married three times; according to the biographical entry, his first two wives died shortly after their marriages. These successive unions contributed to the formation of an estate that he sought to increase, notably through investments in real estate and in a brickworks.
