The Austrian painter Alois Anreiter, identified under the name Alois von Anreiter, lived from 1803 to 1882. Works recorded under his name document, among other things, miniature painting and portraiture. At the Nationalmuseum, a miniature titled «Okänd flicka» («Unknown Girl») is attributed to him. Executed in gouache on ivory, oval in shape and measuring 8.8 cm, it is listed among the painted miniatures under the number NMDs 2038.
Entries in the LotSearch auction archive also associate his name with works described as a girl reading, executed in pencil and watercolour heightened with white, or as three portrait studies from his sketchbook. Another entry specifies that a work is after Moritz Michael Daffinger, a distinction describing its relationship to the model and not to be confused with an entirely independent attribution. The archive records 40 lots associated with Anreiter, 27 of which have a hammer price. These auction data and descriptions of works provide points of reference for the documented subjects and techniques, without constituting an exhaustive inventory of his production.
This profile brings together identity references for Alois von Anreiter and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
