The Dutch painter and draughtsman Andries Vermeulen was born in Dordrecht on 23 March 1763 and died in Amsterdam on 6 July 1814. He was trained by his father, Cornelis Vermeulen.
He worked for some time in Amsterdam, the city where his career came to an end. Leendert de Koningh and Arnoldus van Well are mentioned among his pupils.
A Schuler catalogue from March 2018 lists under his name a winter landscape with a horse, described as an oil painting on wood, signed lower right, measuring 26 × 30 cm.
