Vincent Manago is associated with Mediterranean landscapes and Orientalist subjects, two directions that place his work at the intersection of regional motifs and themes related to North Africa. A pupil of Jean-Paul Laurens at the Académie Julian, he works in Marseille, where he takes part in the Marseille fair between 1900 and 1913. The sources mention journeys to Algeria and Tunisia, as well as the decoration of private residences in Tunis and Algiers.
At the Exposition Coloniale, he presents landscapes of Africa and Provence; the bringing together of these subjects reflects the geographical diversity of his documented themes. « La halte près de l’oasis », described as an oil on canvas, provides a concrete example of his Orientalist repertoire. Galerie de Souzy states that the Musée de Gray holds several of his paintings. In 1920, Vincent Manago and his wife obtain French naturalisation.
This profile brings together identity references for Vincent Manago and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
