Charles Duvoisin
Vaud art scene — nationality still to be documented · Twentieth-century landscape painting · views of Lake Geneva and Lavaux.
Charles Duvoisin was a landscape painter whose documented works take the Lake Geneva basin and the localities of Lavaux as their subjects. The lake shores, boats and villages of the region constitute the motifs of this figurative body of work. His activity is attested in particular by an oil on canvas dated 1934 and bearing the artist’s signature.
This composition, entitled Boote auf dem Lac Léman in the Koller catalogue, depicts boats on Lake Geneva. La Croix sur Lutry, another oil on canvas bearing a place inscription and a signature, is listed by the Hôtel des Ventes de Lausanne. These two works provide concrete points of reference regarding the subjects, technique and formats of his production.
The works by Charles Duvoisin presented by Swiss Art Gallery extend this artistic journey and take their place naturally within this corpus.
